For years I have known this apple as 'pear apple'. But the very few places that variety is offered for sale here in the UK it is described as a predominately yellow skinned apple. Maybe its not a UK fruit??
This apple starts off as green, but then almost immediately turns a dull red on the sunny side. The birds are already starting to peck at the flesh now mid July. The flesh is dry, not sweet with tannin present. Maybe good as an early cider variety.
